David has over 20 years experience working a Solicitor in the areas of Litigation, Family Law and Childcare Law. He is the Principal Solicitor of McCoy Solicitors which he established in 2017. He regularly appears as an advocate in the High Court, Circuit Court and District Court. He is often appointed by the High Court to represent vulnerable adults in Inherent Jurisdiction cases and acts on behalf of Guardian ad Litems in cases involving vulnerable children.
David’s broad range of experience in litigation include Personal Injuries cases, Judicial Reviews, Defamation cases, Medical Negligence and cases involving property.
In family law David represents clients in respect Divorce, Domestic Violence protection, Judicial Separations, Cohabitation and custody and access cases.
David has a vast knowledge of the employment law area and has represented clients at the Workplace Relations Commission and advised on severance negotiations, redundancy settlements and constructive dismissal claims. He appeared on RTE during the Covid-19 pandemic to discuss the rights of employees and duties of employers during the lockdown.
David takes a practical approach to resolving legal disputes and is very client focused. He is Treasurer of the Cork Family Lawyers Association and a member of the Southern Law Association.
